Menswear Autumn/Winter 2010/11 {Part 2}

I was loving Ricardo Tisco's pro-Christ collection (I'm tempted to go all Steven Baldwin on ya) especially the neck pieces. Judging by the Dolce & Gabbana collection, wearing thermal wear as outerwear will be acceptable come Autumn-it's like their take on womenswear's underwear as outerwear - only for men.
Jean Paul Gaultier's collection was a tailored scruff collection whilst Viktor & Rolf and YSL reworked the stadium jacket and cinched waist lines, as did Rick Owens.
John Galliano's collection featured corsets for men indicating that defined waists will be something to look out for. It also appeared to Sherlock Holmes inspired whilst Junya Watanabe's collection had a Ska feel to it.

How to Sit Like a Guy and Still Look Hot

Everyone has a moment when they warm to a particular celebrity, and sometimes it's a moment that you remember for a long time.
I had this moment sometime in November when I came across this picture of Victoria Beckham at a Lakers game...

It took a while for me to figure out what it was about her that had made me go from not caring for her one little bit to absolutely loving her. It was the way she sat. This wasn't normal wooden Victoria Beckham I was looking at. This VB had... erm.. sw*g (I sensor the word because I feel it is extremely overused, but it's the only word that I could think of).

Seeing her sat like a bloke in a pair of one of the hottest heels I've seen in a while and a casual tank top showed me a whole new likeable Victoria.

(I would suggest only only trying this with a pair of heels on to achieve the desired effect.)

Menswear Autumn/Winter 2010/11

Looks like Chris Brown's up to his old tricks again. Nah I'm playing, but I'm dying to know what was going through Chris Brown's mind when he took this picture with Jean Paul Gaultier.

Whilst the make-up at [womenswear] fashion week tells us what war paint we should be plastering on for the oncoming season, the make-up at men’s fashion week indicates what look the men should be going for. Now, if DSquared2 and Jean Paul Gaultier’s shows are anything to go by, guys should be aiming for the 10 rounds with Chris Brown look this Autumn/Winter. Yes, battered and bruised (or maybe just rough and rugged) is the way to go fellas.

I actually forgot that it was Menswear fashion week until Tuesday (can you believe it?) so I’ve had a bit of catching up to do, but as I’m snowed under with loads of work, this is about as much of a post as you’re going to get from me until it’s all over. But don’t worry, once it’s finished I’ll do a trend analysis to make up for it, although you can probably tell that fur, duffle coats, flight jackets, trapper hats and meggins (man leggings) are going to be big!

D&G Mens Autumn/Winter 2010/2011

I always seem to prefer D&G's Men collection to their womenswear one even though their womenswear collection tends to be inspired by their menswear. I love the layering and it seems as though trapper hats are going to huge this coming winter - can't wait!

Rihanna Does W Magazine

Rihanna featuring on the cover of W magazine completely caught me off guard - I wasn't expecting it. I'm not crazy about the cover, but I think the editorial is gorgeous.

Veik's Lady Gaga Barbie Tribute

I stumbled across these images on Refinery29 of an artist called Veik's homage to Lady Gaga through Barbie.

When I was younger, I too would recreate my favourite celeb looks on Barbie dolls (I'd even do mini mock photoshoots as well) but they weren't anywhere close to this guys level-I mean I tried to recreate the clothes, however they just never did fit right (this applies to the clothes I make at uni as well-story of my frikkin' life).

I must confess, I feel like digging out my old Christie doll and giving her a makeover too. check out the rest of his work here.

Curves Ahead

I wasn't going to blog about V magazine's Size issue, purely because it is being covered by other blogs and there'd be not point in me posting the same thing.
Especially if I'm not moved by it.
But seeing as I'm putting off doing any work, and it's snowing outside, which in turn means that for some reason I am not receiving any signal on my sky box and can't watch pointless t.v. shows I've decided that I will.

My problem with these special issues is that when the next issue come's out, every thing goes back to the way it was before, which then makes me question the whole point of them dedicating one issue to black/plus size/asain/older models. Myself and a friend of mine have this joke about t.v. shows and how when a show features a lot of ethnic minorities or people with disabilities, they're just trying to fill up a quota. Sounds like a cruel joke, but that is what this issue reminds me of. The same goes for other issues (e.g. Vogue Italia's all black issue). That's not to say that I won't ever get excited by them, because I do, I just think that if they really cared it would not need to be a big deal and that they would just do it all the time.

I would also like to take this post to say that I don't think that the whole size 0 debate (I actually hate the term "size 0" because that size simply doesn't exist in the UK) is about us wanting to have plus size models. I frequently hear how people want to see real women on catwalks but a slim model is just as real as a plus size one. I can't speak for everyone but I would just like to see an average model (in terms of body size)on the catwalks like it was in the late 80's early 90's. Why does it have to be either or? Can't we have some middle ground? I mean the closest we have is Daisy Lowe, and apparently even she can't fit into sample sizes anymore because the sample sizes are becoming smaller and smaller.

That said, I do like the editorial. It has a seventies/eighties feel (in terms of hair, make up and photography) however, they could have done a lot more with the clothes.

I just keep falling in love with Topshop(and falling out of love with their prices), to the extent where I make a point of avoiding the shop so that I can save my purse from any damage. My hardwork will come undone when the spring 2010 collection hits the stores, because I have already made a mental note of what I want from the collection. Those floral leggings from the Parisienne group will be mine.

2010

Happy New Year readers! As it's a new year, I thought I'd change the blog layout a bit. It's not a huge change-but it's a change nontheless and I hope you like it. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, and an equally lovely new year.

I don't normally make new year's resolution's. Infact, the last time I made one was probably a good 4/5 years ago and I can't remember what it was, but I do know I broke it a few hours after making it.

I can't commit to resolutions and for that reason, I don't make them. I also don't make resolutions purely because every year, towards the end of December I have to listen to people bang on about how "...[insert year here] is gonna be my year" and they never follow through. I hate failure.

This year, I've decided to make style resolutions. I've figured that seeing as it's a fun thing, I'm more than likely to stick to it. So here it goes (and I'll probably mentally be adding more to it on a weekly basis):

- Have fun more when it comes to clothes. Wear clothes now that I won't be able to get away with as a respectable 60 year old. [This is gonna be hard for me seeing as I'm fairly introverted]

- Try out different hairstyles on a regular basis.

- Make sure my nails are always done [easier said than done-I'm as lazy as they come]

- wear more skirts and shorts regardless of the weather. I'm a UK size 10/12 but I have a complex about my thighs that I need to get over. There are greater things going on in the world, so anyone concerned about the way my thighs wobble needs to get their priorities in order.

- WEAR MORE HEELS. I'm 5'3".

- Customize more.

- Add more colour to my wardrobe.

- Take more pictures

My style inspiration(s)? These ladies:
