Ok, the title is corny but I'm in a celebratory mood. My internship-which I have thoroughly enjoyed will be ending soon and I cannot wait to work on the next stage of my "career". I have some things in the works, which I can't wait to share with you-hopefully it will make up for my inexcusable lack of blogging.

My blog will also be turning a year older in a few weeks time so I really want to switch things up. I'm not sure what that will be yet, but watch this space.

In the mean time, if you fancy shaking a leg, and mingling with some celebs, why not head on down to Shoreditch's village underground tonight (Thursday, 14th April)to celebrate the opening of Calvin Klein's CK One pop-up store opening with the likes of Katy B, Alice Dellal and Alexis Jordan.

When Looklet Comes To Life...

Around a month ago, after deciding that I wanted to add styling images to my portfolio, I found a great photographer, Make Up Artist and a Model and I set up a shoot. I shared one of the looks here in my DIY post but I never actually showed you the rest of the looks, so here they are:

Apart from doing my Graduate lookbook, this was my first styling shoot. Even though the night before I nearly gave myself a panic attack from worrying about someone getting sick and dropping out last minute, I loved it, plus I had a great team to work with.

Nails Did

So, I was checking out Sophy Robson's blog and I came across this post which inspired me to do my own Sophy Robson inspired nails; with a twist of course.

The inspiration picture is the one in the background.

I used L.A. Colors' Metallic Purple on the ring and pinky finger nails, and Barry M 308 with Rimmel London Pro Matte Finish top coat on the rest.

The best part was that Ms Robson herself gave me her seal of approval! Yay me.

*Disclaimer* That's not a stripper pole that I'm holding on to, it's moisturiser. I find that unless you're a hand model, taking pictures of your hand (as easy as it may sound) is actually quite tricky especially when trying to make your hands look cute, so holding on to something helps.

Why haven't I subscribed to Vogue Italia yet?? Their editorials never cease to amaze me and are well executed every single time-hats off to Edward Eninnful for the styling and Emma Summerton for the photography. They are not afraid to use a diverse selection of models and when they do it's always well done.

The 1920's African flapper girls in the Orient vibe I'm getting is inspirational, and different to what we normally see. Also, although I stan for Arlenis, Ajak is killing it in this spread; the bold colours and fluid fabrics pop well against her skin tone.

What do I love about this editorial? The big hair, the gold, the bold colours and the body concious clothing; the fact that this editorial is reminiscent of editorials and ad campaigns from the 90's yet is giving me 60's Sicilian siren in the black and white shots also excites me. Yes, Candice Swanepoel may not be the greatest model in the world but her Victoria's Secret hotness gives this editorial just what it needs.

I could not wait to post these first image I saw of this, but I knew I had to hold out for the other images to surface first. 2 new faces front the campaign each month and February is the turn of Strut Girl-Jourdan Dunn and male model Sacha M'Baye. We all know Burberry holds a special place in my heart (especially this Spring/Summer collection) so I'm even more excited that their campaign's are looking more diverse.
I wonder I there will there be Asian models fronting the next one?

Biker Jacket addict

Whilst other's deemed the Burberry S/S 2011 collection as "too young" I looked at it and couldn't help but think of just how 'me' it was.

You see, I have a thing for biker jackets and I'm putting it down to the fact that my grandfather was a biker as I can't find any other reason for my leather obsession.I'm only showing you four of the jackets, but I do in fact have more as when ever I see a nice one I convince myself that I just have to buy it.

My latest purchase is the blush coloured perforated leather and suede jacket. I am in love with it, however, I haven't worn it yet as I am trying to get the most out of my wax jacket for a while seeing as it's relatively new.

Erm... My Graduate Collection

Sorry for the unimaginative title.

I promised to post my graduate collection as soon as it was finished, but in all honesty, when it was all over and done with, I was sick of the sight of it and put it to the back of my mind like a really bad date. I’m not going to get too into it, but I drifted from the original direction I wanted to go in because as a fashion student sometimes you feel you have to compromise your designs to suit others and my final collection ended up looking different to how I imagined it to, but hey, that’s the creative process.

I remember throughout my years at uni, I always wondered if my graduate collection was going to be a career defining one as, say, that of Christopher Kane or William Tempest (clearly it wasn’t) and since graduating, I’ve gone from not wanting to ever see another sewing machine to trying to “find” myself then falling deeply in love with fashion all over again.

I didn’t feel confident with showing my collection on my blog-why? I don’t know. I’m very critical of my work, and if I feel like I could do better, I want to go away and perfect it. However, some good things have come off the back of my collection meaning you guys will be seeing parts of it anyways, so I guessed I might as well share it with you guys.

I’m currently in the process of making another collection so stay tuned for that as well.

(P.s. I didn’t pull a Tom Ford and intentionally put off showing you guys the pictures.)

Happy New Year readers! I know my blogging pattern has been a bit sporadic over the last 3/4 months, but I'm going to try to get into a routine this year. My lack of posting was down to me being busy (some of the time), an infected laptop (most of the time) and a sheer lack of motivation.

Around this time last year I made "Style Resolutions" and to my surprise, I managed to stick to 3 of them; the 3 being making sure sure my nails were always done, wearing more heels, and adding more colour to my wardrobe. I could still work on them i.e. wear heels at least once or twice a week, and I think I will (work on my resolutions that is).

I've been Tumblring away my hair, beauty and style inspirations, and when I find myself stuck in a style rut I look at my archive for inspiration/a boost. So until I move onto a different look, here are just some of the images that are inspiring my style...

I'm so over jeans at the moment, and I only wear them now if it's really cold outside, or if I can't find a decent pair of leggings to wear. I am into leggings still and high waisted trousers-High waisted leggings are a bonus. I'm loving Bridget Bardot hair, longline tanks and corselette-esque dresses as well as preppy clothes and thigh high socks.

I came across this image of Lindsay Lohan earlier on. As much as I wish they'd lock her up and throw away the key for her flagrant disregard of the law, her outfit choices are so on point she deserves to get some bly. She makes me want to get all dressed up and go no where.

Make up heads, MAC have a new nude collection- Cham Pale, coming soon (Dec 26th for North America, January 2011 for the rest of us International folk).

Although I work myself up into an overexcited frenzy over MAC collections, I tend not to purchase anything from them as I shy away from bold colours, and stick to the more tame palettes. So this new ‘Cham Pale’ collection is definitely one I intend on purchasing from.

Seeing this picture of Hanneli Mustaparta in her Ralph Lauren cable knit reminded me that I need to invest in some knitwear (I'm supposed to be on a shopping diet so erm... yeah). Every year I set out to purchase a good cable knit jumper and I usually end up with a poor, itchy version that looks completely different after the first wash, but as the 'Ladylike' trend (as seen on Hanneli above) is in full swing this Autumn/Winter, it shouldn't be too hard for me to find the almost perfect cable knit jumper soon-I might even pick up the Topshop one below.

Qatar’s 1st(?)Lady, a wife of new Harrod’s owner Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, has been on my radar for a while now for all the right reasons. Why is she my Strut Lady? Her style is impeccable, she is not afraid of colour and carries herself with such poise and grace, that whilst some of what she wears might not be the first thing we’d choose off of a rail (google her and you’ll see an image of her in a green outfit on Bastille day), she pulls it off so well you fall in love with it.
And don’t let me start on her turbans, they make her look so regal I’m contemplating increasing my range of snoods, scarf and headwear so I can totally slay this winter!

Reinvent Yourself

Going though a feature in UK Vice Student Guide, I came across ‘Reinvent Yourself’ which brought back on of my first experiences at University. When I first started uni, I was overwhelmed by the bold, beautiful and downright bizarre character’s I found myself surrounded by. I assumed they were born stylish (or weird) so it was a surprise to discover that a lot of them were geeks/nerds/social outcasts/ugly ducklings in (what I’d like to call) their previous life.

I wouldn’t say I reinvented myself at uni, my style merely developed into what it is today. I believe I dress pretty normal but I won’t lie, I did consider reinventing my style a couple of times. However, whilst I believe that you should put some effort into how you look, it should also come naturally to you (attention seekers take note i.e. Lady Gaga)which is probably why I love the above re-invention looks as they still hold a bit of their old personalities.

Whilst looking at Chloe’s Autumn/Winter 2010/11 collection, I kept on thinking it reminded me of something… the Citroen Karin.

Citroen Karin was a concept car designed by Trevor Fiore in 1980. I came across images of it a while ago whilst ‘dossing’ about on the net. I don’t know why I like the car and its humorous pyramid shape but I do. Maybe it has got something to do with the interior.

I can totally picture an Autumn/Winter Chloe girl stepping out this (providing it was a fully functioning car).

Are you ready for camel this season? I think I am-in moderation that is. I don’t think I could do it head-to-toe, I’m already brown.

Yesterday, I made a trip to the Kennett & Lindsell ltd showrooms as I desperately need a dress form. They were extremely helpful and were more concerned with saving me money and catering to my needs rather than lining their pockets. I cannot wait to actually make a purchase. One of the forms they showed me was specifically designed to help with making corselets and it had a lovely silhouette with a nipped in waist. As they were being so nice to me I thought it would be too rude to ask if I could take pictures, but it looked a little bit like this….
(But with bigger boobs)

Now we’re only just starting to see that silhouette make what may just be a comeback in fashion, but I’ve always loved it. It may be because all the women in my family carry that shape, but when I stumbled across the work of American painter Gil Elvgren, that was it for me. I remember for my AS Art portfolio, I painted my own African pin up girl wearing an Ankara print bikini (I had to incorporate fashion in there somehow).

I came across some before and after images of his work, and being a nosey person that likes to see the creative process behind the works of artists and designers, I kind of found the difference fascinating.

It’s like Photoshop the early years don’t you think?
Another thing that caught my attention was the styling in his paintings.

I can’t find the be fore’s and afters for many of his work but it would interesting to see if he included the detailing when painting (which would say a lot about how much attention to detail he paid to fashion) or if the models did the styling themselves (in which case, good job girls)

Haul

I've been on a shopping ban for a while now. I had a huge clearout a while back but for some reason my wardrobe is (once again, and a bit too soon) full of clothes and as my current account is also feeling the effects of the recession, I've put myself on a shopping ban. However, I had to lift that ban "just one last time".

To ease the guilt, I tend to come up with reasons/excuses as to why I've bought something. If I see something I really like (see: Primark open toe boots) I have to get it in as many colours as I can-not really an excuse but I bought them in black then saw that they had it in beige and just had to get them. I think this will be the last time I ever buy a pair of shoes from there again, as I had a situation earlier this week where the soles of a pair of Chanel-esque flats I had bought from there ended up "talking" (I think you know what I mean).

The cardigan.... well I'm prepping for winter. I mean, I have faith that our so-called British summer will return one last time before Autumn fully moves in but you've got to be prepared.

The tapered ticking stripe trousers from Topshop are an item I've had my eye on for while, but never got round to purchasing, which was a good thing because I then found them in the sale for almost half the price. My love affair with skinny jeans is dying very quickly (I'm starting to despise that restricted feeling).

I've finally got a baseball jacket! I've wanted one for ages but all the ones I've come across have never been quite right. This one's a slightly too big for me but I love it, and it keeps me incredibly warm. At the moment, I've been wearing it with leggings (I'm council to the core) and white lace up jazz pumps, but I want to see what it will look like with heels.

Thanks to everyone’s comments on the DIY post. I was kind of unsure about doing one (seeing other DIY bloggers work either knocks you confidence or deludes you into thinking you can do better – I experienced the former) and I’m always a bit ~~funny~~ nervous about showing anything I’ve done (notice how you’re yet to see my graduate collection?) but it was alright. I haven’t had the chance to make anything this week and the blade on my overlocker has gone blunt, but I still want to make the dress in the sketch, so maybe that will be next.

I’ve been a Corrine Bailey Rae fan from the moment I heard ‘Like A Star’. When she made her much anticipated return this year, I also became an even bigger fan of her hair. She’s currently one of my hair porn stars (that sounds so wrong).

I can’t wait to try this one out.

DIY: Jumpsuit

This post is long overdue.Earlier this year I promised (either myself or you guys-I'm not sure) that I would do DIY posts, and after swearing not to ever touch a sewing/overlock/coverstitch machine again, I've found myself being drawn back into making clothes again.

I've been doing quite a bit of making recently (I made my graduation skirt, and an outfit for a christening) so there should be some more DIY posts in the near future.

Alexander Wang's Spring/Summer 2010 collection was one my favourites on the S/S'10 collections purely for it's take on luxe sportswear, and it provided inspiration for the fabric.

It does look slightly different to the drawing-the sleeves for one are fitted when they were supposed to be baggy. I can't remember why I kept them fitted but it may have been down to me being too lazy to alter the sleeve block but when I'm making the dress I'll try to sort that out.

I really didn't want to do a half hearted post with just pictures, but with all the hot editorials that have surfaced online I've been forced to do one. I know I haven't been posting regularly, but I have been using my time in a constructive manner making... stuff. When I handed in my final major project, I swore I wouldn't touch a patternmaster, overlocker, sketchbook, sewing machine etc for a couple of months. The trauma has worn off and I have finally started making stuff for me! So watch out for posts on that later.

If I'm honest, I only noticed Joan Smalls this year when she walked for Burberry's Autumn/Winter show, so I was shocked to find out that she's been around for about 3 years now, and that I probably wouldn't have known who she was if she had not switched agencies (which was definately a good move seeing as she's now blown).

At university, there would always be that one person who claimed that they did not look at other designers work or read magazines. Whether or not they genuinely did so because they did not want to be influenced by what they saw (which is understandable) or they said so to belittle those of us that did I don’t know, but it always irked me. That’s like a photography not looking at other photographers work, or even a doctor not reading med journals-mind boggling. You learn a lot from watching, and Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy Fall 2010 Couture collection is an example of why you should always pay attention to what designers are doing.
Inspiration is something you will see I talk about a lot on this blog (it’s something that fascinates me), and upon seeing how beautiful the Givenchy Couture collection was, “What was the starting point?” was the first question that entered my head. The “art” of extracting from your inspiration and working it into a collection is something that I still haven’t perfected. I have the ability to do it but it’s not great (my reference is either too obvious, or I deviate so far from what I was inspired by that I may as well have not researched it in the first place), so it was interesting to see how Tisci’s inspiration-Frida Kahlo and the three things that she passionately painted about (religion, sensuality and the human anatomy) were shown through the striking dresses.
Kahlo was half-Jewish and half-Catholic and this you can see represented in the silhouette of the dresses and the length as well as the sharp white-think nuns and Mexican wedding dresses.

I assume the sensuality is shown through the feathers, warm colours, crystals and pearls *drools* and the human anatomy drawn from her suffering with Spina bifida and breaking her spine, is represented through spine belts, and the meticulously straight lines that bordered the zips.

Now I don't know if it's because I'm pint sized myself (5'3"), but I have a thing for miniature things; mini cars(see:Mini Cooper, Fiat 500) mini dogs, mini skirts (i think need to explain that one) so when I came across Susie Bubble's post on ol' plastic boy Ken's spread in Esquire, I got a tad bit excited. I even let out a mini squeal when I saw that he was wearing a miniature version of the Burberry Prorsum canvas overcoat.

Clothes Show London

I couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to dress backstage at Clothes Show London. Fun times! Although there was a lot of waiting around, sharing air with TV personalities was all the compensation I needed. I even got to meet George Lamb (who is ridiculously tall, and just as hot in real life).

I should have done this post ages ago, but there were so many photos to sort through that I kinda gave up. I then planned to do it this weekend, but I then spent it weeping in the corner of my room because I couldn't go to Wireless (that's a lie-but I was a bit peed off that I had to miss it). So I'm posting the pictures now before it becomes irrelevat (some may say it already is...)

After covering the Dolce&Gabbana and Burberry Mens Spring/Summer 2011 shows, I came to the conclusion in my head that I wasn’t going to cover it anymore as I fell incredibly behind with Menswear Fashion Week. But after seeing Viktor & Rolf's collection I just had to post about it.

I am now so in love with menswear. You fellas have no excuse to not dress well when hotness like this will most definitely filter down the fashion food chain and land in a highstreet store near you (my money’s on Topman and Zara). Like, Dolce&Gabbana, I am again hoping that this is a sign of what is to come in September for womenswear (Belted-smoking jacket-esque-blazer any body?).

I’m on a nails did hype (as if you couldn’t already tell from my latest posts)! And now twice a week whilst I’m waving my hands in the air trying to fan them dry I catch myself singing Kid Sister featuring Kanye West’s ‘Nails Did’. It’s so bloody sad, but it leads me onto Fool’s Gold the label because the art work for that track is one of my favourite track covers. Infact, I tend to like a lot of the art work done by Fool’s Gold’s very own Dust La Rock. There’s something pleasing about seeing it whilst scrolling through your iTunes (…well for me anyways) and it definitely sets a Fool’s Gold track apart from other’s.

'Why Don't You Love Me'. It's a video I am going to keep coming back to. Why? Because it's Beyonce's one video where the styling in every scene appeals to me, and having spent the past month doing nothing but try to find myself (how corny?) my style, watching films, reading, reflecting, and thinking of my future career in fashion, there's elements of this video that has really "inspired" me in terms of work and personal style.

But that's a post for another day.

This video (the above still inparticular) has now made me a)develop a thing for statement rings, and b)fall back in love with nail lacquer.

Growing up, I remember watching my mum paint her nails in the evening, and do all kinds of fancy art on her finger and toe nails. I also remember the rings of polish she used to get on her thumb and finger tips from where she would use them to cover up the bottle of polish because she said the air would dry it out. She still does it now, and I still laugh at her. She's probably right, I just find it th level of concentration she gives it humourous.

I digress.

Having been out of the loop with the Nail Lacquer game, my quest for the perfect blue came to halt as I limited my search to brands found in Superdrug and boots. Having now done my research, I've now come up with the perfect 5:

You know a collection's good when you begin to long for the season you couldn't wait to say goodbye to.

I'm especially loving their 'Where the Wild Things are' inspired-Out of the Wild and Chloe-esque The Outsiders collections and whilst I probably wont be buying a lot of these from Topshop as they're prices continue to creep up unneccesarily I'm sure I'll find a purse friendly alternative somewhere else.

*The models have a bit of colour on them, are muscular, and beefy {see: real men}. Other designer's take note, and stop sending malnourished, anaemic looking male models down the catwalk please.
*I love the fact that Domenico and Stefano make a point of sending my beloved David Gandy down in pants/trunk/something minimal every season...

I love the collection too, it had a 'summer holiday in Sardinia' feel, and I can't wait to see what their womenswear collection is going to look like now.

I came across Kaya Scodelario's spread for Instyle magazine, and was intruiged by how Stylist Amanda Bellan managed to incorporate "Effy's" style into this cutesy pin-up style. One of the areas I want to venture into is styling, and I now unconciously find myself analysing editorial spreads looking at how the model, the clothes, the theme etc... interlink with one another to create a feature that stands out amongst other features.
I guess if you want to be good at something, you've got to study it.

I Told You I've Forgotten How To Blog!

So let me start by telling you what I've been up to.
I've been clearing out the crap hole that it my room, because I need to redecorate (remember those "what I wore today posts I said I was going to do" from last year? Well I don't think you's appreciate clutter in the background). Infact I'm supossed to be clearing it up now but I'm exhausted and the dust is slowly killing me so I'm taking a break even though I know my dad will give me hell tomorrow when he realises that the space he needs to battle with an Ikea flat pack hasn't been created. I've spent the last 2 weeks thinking about what I want to do with my life. Knowing that that's it for me now-no more university, it's really hit me (and my bank account)that I need to stop dithering about, start doing things and start making mula.

When you hit 21, sooner or later it dawns on you that you're not getting any younger, therefore I plan on experimenting with my style which I should have in my teens (omg I'm not a teenager anymore)and I will be wearing things (clothes, hair and make up) now that I probably won't be able to get away with in my 30's/40's etc... even though I plan on looking MILF-like during my forties a la Lisa Raye McCoy and Stacey Dash.

Kaygee from Kaygee Beauty and her fountain of knowledge has got me all inspired to try something new with my make-up.

Well I've been taking baby steps and I'm trying bold colour on my nails instead of pinks nudes, bright pink blush and lip colour instead of gloss. Now I know black girls dont blush but I don't care. I think it's fun to add a bit of colour as long as I don't end up looking like Bobo the clown. I also discovered that red looks so frikkin' good on me but I'm scared that it makes me look like my mum-not that there's anything wrong with that because my mum looks really good, but i'm just scared it will make me look older.

Can I just mention how in love I am with Benefits "eye Bright"?

I don't think I use it the way I am supossed to (I mean I do line my inner lower lid) but also after putting on all my make up, I line under my eyes, blend it in and walah, I look awake. So thank you Glamour magazine for the freebie Go and grab your copy whilst you still can!

With the World Cup kicking off in less than a weeks time, World Cup fever has actually hit me. It is more than likely that I will be watching it and as today is my lazy Sunday (minus going to church) I decided to throw together a few things that have that sports feel.

In hindsight, doing so was probably a bad idea as ever since I handed in my final project at uni, I have justified all my fashion splurges with the reason being that I deserve it. Which I do. It's just that I have no self control, so drawing the line is a bit tricky, and now this board has given me the urge to... spend a little more.

Already being the owner of similar chains, and the trainer boots, I've now got my eye on the lace up body, Fairground shorts, bag, longline tank and Asos jacket.

Speaking of purchases, here are a few things that I have bought recently:

I'm a sucker for detail and I only bought the black heels because I like the hiker boot detail underneath (Sorry, I wore them before I took the picture). When the novelty wears off I'll probably sell them.

This bag is much bigger, and nicer in real life. Plus it only cost me a fiver. I couldn't get it to stand up so I had hold it up whilst taking the picture (I forgot to add that it's also very heavy, but it has wheels underneath so you can drag it) around)... so it kind of looks different.

I was going to up pictures of the clothes as well, but I think that will only remind me of just how much I've spent.. and how much of it I haven't worn. I will be starting a ShopStruttMode blog soon where I will be selling some of my much loved but rarely worn clothes as well as things I've made.

Trends: Bum Bags

For me, the bum bag (or Fanny Pack) was never out. Believe it or not, there was a time in my life (late secondary school and my first year of college) when I hated carrying bags and as carrying my phone, keys and lip gloss in the tiny pockets of my jeans made me looks as though I were packing something, bum bags were sometimes an alternative. I have been fortunate enough to stumble across bum bags that were rock-able, but I've been waiting for designers to catch up up and redesign it.

Marc Jacobs was brave enough to do so for the Louis Vuitton s/s 2010 collection, and whilst ~~some~~ most of you will be recoiling in horror, I'm all for it.

Bum bags reminds me of the 90s the only decade (excluding the noughties) that I can remember. I know I was born in the late eighties, but my baby brain was mush hence why whilst the rest of the world are still this 80s nostalgia flex, I am all for a 90s revival. The bumbag may conjur up images of Mr Motivator, American tourists, and open the floodgates of emotional fashion distress (trouser skirts, pedal pushers, block heels Timmy Mallet and ...ok let me stop) it makes me feel nostalgic.

My current model obsession is Barbara Palvin. She's pretty new in the game (even though she's been modelling for 3years) so there isn't that much information on her. What I do know is that this 17year old is going to be around for a long time, and knew so as soon as I saw her editorial for 'Jalouse' magazine. A mix between Natalia Vodianova and Kaya Scodelario (in my opinion anyways) this Hungarian is a possible supermodel in the making.

So they kept us waiting... and waiting... and waiting for the premiere of the 'Telephone' video. They even teased us with stills. Now that I've watched it through, the video-epic that wasn't 'Telephone' left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed. At times like these when I have no time to blog, it always excites me when I see a collection that makes me want to do a post on it. Alber Elbaz definately did his thing with this collection, and as much as I'm ashamed to say it, this is the first time I've paid this much attention to Lanvin, and with the ostrich feathers, gems and soft tailoring, I can't wait to see if the highstreet will attempt to take this one on.

As a final year fashion student, there are times when the workload is way too much (like right now), or I get a "creative block" and I stop and wonder why the heck I'm putting myself through this? Well it's collections like this that remind me why I'm doing it.

Giles Deacon is that really you? I don't know about you guys, but this collection to me looks different to anything Giles Deacon has done before.

The collection is very anti-autumn in terms of colours which I love-pastels in the winter time is fine by me. But he still had to throw in his signatures Giles quirky-ness in the form of accessories.

Digital Prints are going to be a big thing come Autumn/Winter if the current catwalk shows are anything to go by. I really liked Mary Katrantzou's use of print in this collection. Part of it reminds me of Versace in the eary 90's, and it also reminds me of the chic silk baroque print granny scarves.

Like I've said before, Flight jackets and sheep skin coats will be major this autumn.
I cannot wait for those chunky knit knee high tights to hit the shelves!

If you haven't guessed it yet, my lack of blog post is due to the fact that I have tonnes of work to do. However, I'm on strike tonight, so I thought I'd give you -my readers a little something.

I was absolutely loving Frankie from The Saturdays, Cheryl Cole and Rihanna's sportswear inspired look-I'm mad about the trend in case you haven't noticed. All three of them have taken very casual pieces and taken it to a whole 'nother level. Jameela Jamil's fearlessness of baring her long legs in a mini dress was a look I really liked on her as well as Vanessa Williams "PETA where you at?" look(I'm assuming she's on set-Wilhelmina's my chick). And I've thrown in a picture of Beyonce in the morning - not because I'm weird, but because I'm annoyed that she looks that good in the morning I don't even look that good with make up on in the morning... even though there's no doubt she adjusted herself before she came outside- There's no way she was going to be seen in a headscarf and sleep creases on her face.

Okay. So a month ago Love Magazine's cover for their 3rd issue surfaced with a naked Lara Stone on the cover. No big deal. But over the past week or so cover's have been appearing left right and center.

Now I've been way too busy to care but then I saw that the model beast that is Ms Campbell had a cover I HAD to take a moment to see what was going on. From what I can gather, there's going to be 8 covers featuring Icon's (As much as I adore Jeneil, she and Lara haven't earned their "icon" stripes yet) and there will be a 40 page spread on them. Excited?

Menswear Autumn/Winter 2010/11 {Part 2}

I was loving Ricardo Tisco's pro-Christ collection (I'm tempted to go all Steven Baldwin on ya) especially the neck pieces. Judging by the Dolce & Gabbana collection, wearing thermal wear as outerwear will be acceptable come Autumn-it's like their take on womenswear's underwear as outerwear - only for men.
Jean Paul Gaultier's collection was a tailored scruff collection whilst Viktor & Rolf and YSL reworked the stadium jacket and cinched waist lines, as did Rick Owens.
John Galliano's collection featured corsets for men indicating that defined waists will be something to look out for. It also appeared to Sherlock Holmes inspired whilst Junya Watanabe's collection had a Ska feel to it.

It took a while for me to figure out what it was about her that had made me go from not caring for her one little bit to absolutely loving her. It was the way she sat. This wasn't normal wooden Victoria Beckham I was looking at. This VB had... erm.. sw*g (I sensor the word because I feel it is extremely overused, but it's the only word that I could think of).

Seeing her sat like a bloke in a pair of one of the hottest heels I've seen in a while and a casual tank top showed me a whole new likeable Victoria.

(I would suggest only only trying this with a pair of heels on to achieve the desired effect.)

Looks like Chris Brown's up to his old tricks again. Nah I'm playing, but I'm dying to know what was going through Chris Brown's mind when he took this picture with Jean Paul Gaultier.

Whilst the make-up at [womenswear] fashion week tells us what war paint we should be plastering on for the oncoming season, the make-up at men’s fashion week indicates what look the men should be going for. Now, if DSquared2 and Jean Paul Gaultier’s shows are anything to go by, guys should be aiming for the 10 rounds with Chris Brown look this Autumn/Winter. Yes, battered and bruised (or maybe just rough and rugged) is the way to go fellas.

I actually forgot that it was Menswear fashion week until Tuesday (can you believe it?) so I’ve had a bit of catching up to do, but as I’m snowed under with loads of work, this is about as much of a post as you’re going to get from me until it’s all over. But don’t worry, once it’s finished I’ll do a trend analysis to make up for it, although you can probably tell that fur, duffle coats, flight jackets, trapper hats and meggins (man leggings) are going to be big!
