Cropped Tops

when I noticed that on several sites, style bloggers were working the crop top look I thought I may be imagining it-I never thought this look would be one people would want to try again. However, Selina from Flying Saucer also pointed out that crop tops may be a new blogger trend, and she may just very well be right as recently bloggers {l-r}Gala, Rumi, Selina and Tina Turnover have been rocking the cropped look...

Olympics

I'm gonna be honest and say that I wasn't really interested in the Olympics. I watched the opening ceremony (I know I'm not the only one slightly worried about it coming to london) and tried my best to avoid watching it. But now that it's about to finish I'm getting into it, (I risked getting my face burnt whilst getting my hair did at the salon-all so I could watch it). Anywhooo, here are some Olympic related posts from the blogosphere...

Chanel Homage Shoes

I haven't done a blog in a while, and I'm sorry. I just couldn't think of any thing to blog about. So whilst I was away and not blogging, I was shopping (yup, spending money when I know damn well pay day is a long way away). I stopped over at Primark for the first time in a couple of months and clapped eyes on these...

very Chanel huh?

Now buying from Primark is risky business. Not only is there a chance that whatever you buy will fall apart, but it is guaranteed that you will bump into at least 10 other people with the same thing.

I went ahead and bought the shoes anyways, and when I was done I popped into my lovely 'local' fabric store to buy some ribbon, dug out some old button I had in my drawer and decided to try out a few tricks my mum taught me.

I couldn't decide wether or not I wanted the bow on the side or on the front, but I soon remembered all the shoes I wore to school them always having something on the side (bows, buckles, initials etc...) and decided to go with the bow in the center.

you likey?

Santogold-Lights Out

It's a really good video, and I've thrown this comment on like two different blogs about how much I like that yellow and black check hoodie(sorry but I do).
*contemplates making one*
I was waiting to see what Santi White was gonna do for her next video and she did not dissappoint.

I just wish she'd do a video for 'Creator' and 'You'll Find A Way', I'd love to see what she would do with that.

Shave it off

Short hair seems to be the in-thing at the moment, and I have been tempted to cut my hair several times over the past 4 years, but I decided against it after thinking about it for a while for a number of reasons. It has taken years for me to get my hair below my shoulders, and now that it's finally there I definately wont be chopping it off.

I used to have really long hair when I was 9, then my mum allowed the "hairdresser" (I use that word loosely, bitch didn't know how to hairdress shit) to relax my hair, and that was the start of my hair length woe's. So after years of relaxing, going natural, texturizing and going natural again I decided to lay off the chemicals and just straighten my afro whenever I wanted it straight.

Sorry, I digress.

The 'The Pob'/'The Rihanna'/'The Charlize Thereon-Aeon Flux' arrived last year (or was it the year before?) and I again contemplated cutting my hair, but before I knew it EVERY girl and their mama was rocking the 'do... I had a lucky escape.

Now there's a 80's Hip Hop/Punk/90's Grunge hair revival that I've noticed creeping its way onto the scene and I like it. It's the shaving off of one side that model Alice Dellal, singer J*Davey(though I think she's got some kinda mohawk going on) and British designer Kesh have been rocking. I would have sworn I saw singer Beth Rowley sporting this look on 'This Morning' last week-but I couldn't find any pictures of it and I'm starting to think that maybe I imagined it.

I'm pretty sure there wont be too many girls running around with this look.

Alice Dellal's reminds me of Cyndi Lauperand my mum used to sport the short version of this with the jehri curls-Salt-n-Pepa style
You've definately gotta have a certain personality or some kinda female-swagger to make it work-which I most certainly do not have(and if I did I still wouldn't shave my hair off... I'm too chicken) and this is why it works so well on Alice, J*Davey and Kesh.

I, on the other hand will work it like this...

Miuccia Prada Rediscovers Black Models

It appears to be that Miuccia Prada has lifted her ban on black models now. She has slowly been weaning Prada fans back on to black models starting with Jourdan Dunn earlier this year, who was the only black model on the Prada Autumn/Winter 08/09 runway. That was one more than the previous season...or any year since the 90's (I think she used The Illest-Naomi from time to time in the 90's).

Well, she's allowed 3 of em to don Prada on the cover of POP magazine's '80s excess' issue along with Agyness Deyn, Amber Valetta and Natalia Vodianova.

As much as I hate to admit it, I love Agyness Deyn's cover. Her pose is on point, and she's working the heck outta that Prada lace nun get up.

Beauty

Chanel Iman for Vogue Italia
Chanel Iman looks fierce in these scans. She seems to get a lot of flak for looking too "teen Vogue" which I find funny seeing as she's only 18. Give it a few more years and she'll definately come into her own. If you've been following her career, you will see that the strength of her editorials have come a long way.
