Merci // Corrine Bailey Rae

Thanks to everyone’s comments on the DIY post. I was kind of unsure about doing one (seeing other DIY bloggers work either knocks you confidence or deludes you into thinking you can do better – I experienced the former) and I’m always a bit funny nervous about showing anything I’ve done (notice how you’re yet to see my graduate collection?) but it was alright. I haven’t had the chance to make anything this week and the blade on my overlocker has gone blunt, but I still want to make the dress in the sketch, so maybe that will be next.


I’ve been a Corrine Bailey Rae fan from the moment I heard ‘Like A Star’. When she made her much anticipated return this year, I also became an even bigger fan of her hair. She’s currently one of my hair porn stars (that sounds so wrong).

I can’t wait to try this one out.

I just hope it looks half as good as hers does, however with my hair being mix of 4a & 4b curls I know it’s going to be a battle.

The Creators Project

I’m on a nails did hype (as if you couldn’t already tell from my latest posts)! And now twice a week whilst I’m waving my hands in the air trying to fan them dry I catch myself singing Kid Sister featuring Kanye West’s ‘Nails Did’. It’s so bloody sad, but it leads me onto Fool’s Gold the label because the art work for that track is one of my favourite track covers. Infact, I tend to like a lot of the art work done by Fool’s Gold’s very own Dust La Rock. There’s something pleasing about seeing it whilst scrolling through your iTunes (…well for me anyways) and it definitely sets a Fool’s Gold track apart from other’s.

Introducing Rox

I haven't done a music post in a while but I'm so in love with Rox Tataei's music I just had to bring it back again.

I've been reading(in magazine, newspapers etc...) about Rox for roughly around a year now, but I hadn't heard her music-or so I thought. Unbeknownst to me, the song that I just could not get out of my head 'No Going Back' just so happened to be by Rox.

'Telephone' - You Likey?

So they kept us waiting... and waiting... and waiting for the premiere of the 'Telephone' video. They even teased us with stills. Now that I've watched it through, the video-epic that wasn't 'Telephone' left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed. I was expecting this video to be on the levels of Thriller but instead, I've wasted a little over 9 minutes of my life watching an unnecessarily long video to an alright song with the highest amount of product placement I've seen in a video ever.

Put It In A Love Song

Here are sine candid's of Alicia Keys and Beyonce (who's been a busy bee lately) on the set of their video for the song "Put it in a Love Song". Everytime I see Beyonce's body I feel bad about the last chocolate bar I devoured and feel the sudden urge to go to the gym.

It's being filmed in Brazil and has a very African Carmen Miranda feel. I love the outfits! They have me wishing summer would hurry up come so that I can pull out my batik skirt as well.

I can't stop listening to..

It's a good thing I enjoyed my self yesterday because it pouring down with rain outside right now. And even though it wet outside-my house is boiling. Boiling to the point where my laptop keeps overheating and shutting it's self down, and if no one were in, I'd be blogging in my undies.

Infact, my iPod's going through some kind of 90's dance/trance revival. With the amount of remixed 90's songs coming out lately I've found myself doing the unthinkable visiting THOSE 90s looks (torn/acid wash/stone wash/ripped denim, lace, baggy shirts) It's inspired me to make a 90's fashion post. But, I won't do that right now cos I need to do my hair.

The fact that I'll be graduating next month and that I actually have to grow up now has made me reminisce about when I really didn't have a care in the world. So, I'm going to take you on a trip down musical memory lane with the songs that remind me of my summers as a rugrat:

I've come out uni-work hiatus to post this. The Saturday's need to watch their backs as I can sense that in a couple of singles time, Richgirl will be chasing The Saturdays off of my fave list; infact, I think they may have done so already (I'm a sucker for latex).

They are sooo channeling Madonna during her erotica phase but I love their urban* twist on it. Oh and I loves-yes loves the way Lyndriette swangs-yes swangs her ponytail at 3:23...

*I actually hate the word "urban" I just couldn't think of another word to use.

Gosh I ♥ Mikey... even though at 1:24 he's wearing a shirt that my dad probably wore in the early 90's and we now use to clean the windows. I can't wait till I get my boombox and some big azz speakers so I can annoy my neighbours with the base.

Sasha Fierce

Every now and then, a video is released that makes me want to jump into some lycra and dance like nobody's business. Beyonce's second video for her other new single "Single Ladies (put a ring on it)" doesn't just make me want get up and shake my arse off, it also makes me want to hit the gym after seeing those toned legs, firm butts and hour-glass body shapes.

The choreography and video was inspired by Bob Fosse's wife-Gwen Verdon's 'Mexican Breakfast'. I won't lie, I really don't like the song, but the video choreographed by Frank Gatson & Jaquel Knight (google 'em) and directed by Jake Nava TOTALLY makes this song.

Lily Allen in Paper Mag

I spotted these images of Lily Allen for Paper Magazine over at DTY.

I like the look she's working. She's finally won me over with the pink hair now that she's added the pink weave (I have a thing for volume). I've never bought a copy of Paper mag, but this one's the fashion issue, so I'm gonna have to head on down to Franks to see if I can track down a copy.
