I'm confused...

I saw this on the train this morning and had to slyly take a pic. Please excuse the nastyness on the floor-I think it's an apple core, some brits don't have the decency to take their shit with em.

But what's going on here?

Stuff...

Hmmm, I felt the need to post today even though I have nothing to say so I'm gonna ramble about random things...

Gladiator Sandals

I'm starting to think that I must be the only one that doesn't like gladiator sandals. Don't get me wrong, they look good on some people but I personally feel that they should be left to General Maximus Decimus Meridius. The other week, me and some friends decided to do a spot of shopping, and as soon as we saw the sandals, my girls went ape shit over them. They kept on asking me if I liked "this one" or if I liked "that one" and I just about managed to force a smile and say "It looks alright".

Ladies, If you can pull em off, then by all means wear them. But if you're wearing them just because 'Look' magazine says they're hot this summer (which I don't get cos they've been around for quite a while now) then please reconsider buying them.

The Story of the Supremes from the Mary Wilson Collection

Here's another post I shouold have done ages ago, but hey. The Victoria & Albert Museum will be exhibiting performance costumes worn by The Supremes during their early days, right the way through to the peak of their career.

I, for one, cannot wait. I love all things motown and all things 60's, so I really will be kicking myself if I miss this exhibition. I just hope I'll be allowed to take pictures because I know I sure as hell won't be allowed to touch any of it. It's running from the 13th May till the 19th October so be sure to go and see it.

Marc Jacobs @ CSM

*sighs* I missed the 'Marc Jacobs in Conversation' at Central Saint Martins on Monday evening... story of my life. The tickets sold out before I could even say "LV Speedy", and I heard he gave a good talk as well. Mister Lego over at BNTL has given a run down of how it went along with some pics... he also put me on blast for not getting at him.

I saw this..

... and thought I'd take a picture. But it's been sitting in my camera for well over two weeks now. It is-or should I say WAS Topshop's 'Superhero' window to coincide with the Met costume Gala.

I'll just let everyone know that I have a thing for shop windows-especially Zara and Topshop's window displays. So don't be surprised if you start to see more posts like this.

I apologise for it being so hard to see. I took it in 0.35 seconds or something because I was in a mad rush to get to uni and everytime I held the camera up someone would walk right in front (It is Oxford street after all).

Allow me to introduce myself...

You can call me Ella. I'm a 19 year old fashion obsessed student from London town. You can find me at uni-London College of Fashion, at work : ( Oxford street, Brick lane, museums, gigs or sitting behind my beloved laptop.

I really should have written this as soon as the blog went up-but I don't really talk about me that much, but I'll have to start doing so soon because I want to make this blog a bit more personal. I used to blog before (I've had two blogs in the past-I get bored easily), but now this blog is my way of keeping on top of things going on in the fashion industry. I am not a writer-repeat I.AM.NOT a writer, so don't take things too seriously.

I did it. And I said I was going to do it. I always imagine styling music video's, and I sooo wish I could have styled this one. Here's what it would look like if they had let me loose on set. It's nothing special but...

M.I.A Clothing Line?

According to WWD, rapper M.I.A will be releasing a clothing line

quote: SHOOTING STARS: Ads featuring M.I.A. — aka Maya Arulpragasam — shot by Juergen Teller's point-and-shoot for the Marc by Marc Jacobs' spring 2008 campaign, might have been unveiled several months ago, but the experience still feels a little surreal for the petite Sri Lankan rapper. "The whole time I was doing that campaign I was like, 'Does Marc Jacobs know who I am?,'" Arulpragasam told WWD at last weekend's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. "He didn't let me into his parties and stuff six months before." As to whether she had any reservations about being snapped in lensman Teller's typically indiscreet — and uncensored — style, she joked: "When I first found out [about Teller], I was like, 'It's just like my mum taking pictures — they're going to come out really hard, you know?"

However, you won't find her sporting Jacobs' duds any time soon. "You can't really be dressed in Marc Jacobs' clothes when you're on tour," she explained. "They're too nice." Her solution? "I have my own label now," Arulpragasam said, "which is the only thing I've been wearing recently." The eponymous collection (M.I.A., that is), which is repped by London-based publicist Mandi Lennard, included tour bus-friendly items such as bomber jackets, leggings and T-shirts, all done up in the bold hues and graphic prints for which the singer is known. And, aside from reflective glory, buying an Arulpragasam-designed piece affords its owner a little extra sartorial security. Explained the fashionista: "With my stuff, because everything's really bright, if you lose it or someone steals it, you can see it from miles away and you can be like, 'Oy! Give me my shirt back!'" Talk about bang for your buck.

I'm intruiged. I'm not going to lie, I'm tired of all these celebrity fashion labels... the only one I think I like is Pastelle-and that's not out yet, I'm just saying so cos I'm a 'Ye head. I want to see what this line will look like because M.I.A's style is pretty much different to any other celeb out there so it will be interesting to see how she does it. But I'm guessing it will pretty much be a hybrid of her style, Kesh's style with a bit of Cassette Playa thrown in.

Italian Vogue Update...

Model Chanel Iman talked about shooting the all-black Vogue Italia last week, and we now know that as well as Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn, Iman and Veronica Webb will be featuring in the issue as well. We still don't know who is going to star as the cover girl though-and nor does Chanel.

I cannot wait for this issue to come out. I can't read much Italian, but I sure as heck will try when this issue come out, but my guess is that the photography will be so great, no one will care about the words.

N*E*R*D - Everybody Nose... preview

I know this might not have anything to do with fashion-but I'm going to make it about fashion. I stumbled across the preview of N*E*R*D's video for their new single 'Everybody Nose' and now I can't wait to see the full length video. I'm really feeling the style of AND styling in the video and it's just asking for me to polyvore it.

'Heart of the City' after party

Beyonce was at the 40/40 club last night at Jay-Z's 'Heart of the City' tour after party. Mrs Carter (?) was looking very hood Chanel in a luxe jersey dress, long beads, gloves and monochrome shoes. I like the look, even though I'm a bit confused with the gloves (it's hot in London so I'm assuming it's boiling in NY)and I'm not sure about the flesh coloured tights.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala

Monday night saw the return of the Costume Institute Gala and the theme was 'Superheroes'.
I'm not going to lie, when I heard that that was the theme, I was slightly worried as all I could imagine were tights, capes and leotards. As well as being worried, I was also eager to see who would take the dress code literally and turn up looking as though they had crawled out of a comic strip, but I was pleasantly surprised as the theme was executed well by most. I'm sure every one has seen the pictures from the night, so I'm not going to bother posting all the pictures again, but I'll up my favourites.

'Black Is Beautiful'

Apparently, Vogue Italia's next issue will be focusing on the lack of black models in the fashion industry, containing a photoshoot featuring all black models shot by photographer Steven Meisel.

This should be interesting. It's already sparking up debates on the internet as to wether or not it should be considered a 'diverse' issue seeing as they are only using black models. I cann't wait to get my hands on a copy (if I can).
