Frockin' Happy

Please excuse the title. For the past 2 weeks I've been working backstage for a new T4 show "Frock Me" which is a fashion and music magazine show presented by Alexa Chung, designer Henry Holland and Gemma Cairney. Part of the show features wannabe styists also known as "Frockers" from different cities around the UK pulling together an outfit based on a theme. They then have a "Frock off" at the end of the show and the winner wins £1000. With all this frockin' frock off frockers I keep finding myself trying to create words and phrases using "frock".

Anywhoo, that's pretty much what I wore on my first day last week.I really should have taken a picture of what I wore instead. Now I'm off to go and sort my self out for uni next week. I'll try and post later.

'Another Way To Die'

Alicia Keys + Jack White

Even though it's not really a fashion related video, I thought I'd post this up just because whenever I think of Bond I think of glamour, diamonds and fashion. If I had heard this song not knowing it was a for the Bond movie I most probably would have loved it (I'm a fan of Jack White, and I love me some Alicia).

You see, I know that Mark Ronson and Amy Wino were supposed to record the soundtrack but Wino messed up, which is a damn shame and it pisses me off because I know Ronson would have done his thing. Incase you didn't know, I'm a Mark Ronson fan. He intruiged me when I saw him on the decks in Aaliyah's video(I thought he was fine), and I've been a fan of his ever since I heard his song "Ooh Wee" (infact, I've been a fan of his from when I heard "Like A Feather" by Nikka Costa I just didn't know he produced it).

Back on the subject of the video, I'm not too keen on it. It had potential but meh...
maybe i'm just bitter cos Mark missed out.

Janelle Monae-Many Moons

I completely forgot about Ms Monae, until I saw this video. I love it. I love the whole futuristic fashion show theme. And her skank(dance) in the video is a lot!

Ouch

"Ouch", is all I could say when I saw those skinny bitches models take a tumble at the Prada s/s 09 show. I actually felt it in my ankles when I saw the pics. Falling down in heels has got to be one of my worst fears. The pain and embarrasment combo factor would be too much.

I have quite a lot of heels, but they hardly ever see the light of day (or darkness of night for that matter) which to be honest is not a good thing as I am 5'2.5" and I need all the help I can get in the height department. Walking in heels is not a problem-one of the benefits of living in flats('flats' as in apartments/maisonettes... not ballet pumps) is that I get to "test-walk" them on the rough floor and run up 8 flights of stairs in order to get used to them. It's just that after a few hours the balls of my feet start to hurt, my pinky toes begins to feel like it's on fire and the tendon around my ankle starts to play up (I tore the tendon there a few years ago and it's never been the same).

I've made a vow to myself that I will wear heels more often-who cares about bunions and corns? I've even bought 5 pairs of heels in the last 2 months and disposed of the receipt just so that I don't back out and return them, but I haven't found that many appropriate moments to wear them. I work in retail part-time which means I stand up all day. I study pattern cutting which means I stand up all day. I travel in rush hour which means my slower walking pace will result in me being mown down by commuters on their way to work or me breaking something whilst trying to keep up. And I help out in Sunday school *adjusts halo* which means I'm usually running after little kids.

I am going to try not to give up though. I've been eyeing up a pair of Gucci copies homages in Primark recently. When I go back to uni I'll probably wear them to mid morning and late afternoon lectures. and if the pain gets too much I'll just kick em off during my lecturer's ramblings.

Apologies in advance to everyone else in my class that'll have to smell my cheesy feet-just playing my feet smell like peaches.

Damn Girl-Don't Hurt 'Em

Check out Danielle Evans from America's Next Top Model-Cycle whatever (seriously, there's been so many season's of that show I've lost count). Whenever I think of ANTM winner's I never actually think they're good enough to do editorials and runways, but after seeing these pics of Danielle I think I've changed my mind (even though I always thought Danielle was fire)!

William Tempest

I personally feel that William Tempest should have won. I know I could be seem as being biased (as he used to attend my uni) but I personally feel that his collection was better than Hong's but meh... that could be down to me having sultry taste in clothing.

Can I just say-how cute are Jamelia's little girls huh? Their little afro puffs take me back to when my mum used to do my hair like that.

The Simmons Sisters

Watching some re-runs of season 1 of "Run's House", made me notice that Vanessa & Angela's style had come a long way. This past couple of months they have been popping up all over the place at events looking all cute and stuff, and I'm starting to see their own individual style shine through.

Just a few more hot looks like those ^^ and maybe I'll forgive them for this

I don't want to mae a habit of covering celeb clothing lines, but I'll do it this time seeing as this one isn't anything like the other celebrity lines out there. M.I.A's clothing line landed last week, and just as we expected, it's a line filled with bright coloures, tanks, prints and lycra...

>And just incase you would like to purchase any of them you can head on over to Opening Ceremony (in the L.A & New York area) or via her website www.miauk.com
